Wandera was stretched off towards the end of the first half after suffering a nasty elbow dislocation

Tusker FC defender Hillary Wandera is expected to be out for at least three weeks following the injury he picked on Sunday during their CAF Confederation Cup playoff first leg encounter against CS Sfaxien at the Nyayo National Stadium, the medical team has confirmed.

Tusker played to a barren draw at the Nyayo National Stadium and face a herculean task when they visit the Tunisian club for the return fixture if they are to proceed to the group stages.

The 29-year old left back suffered a dislocated elbow after an awkward fall while contending for the ball with Sfaxien's Mohammed Salih Ali Soulah in the latter stages of the first half and had to be treated on the pitch before being stretched out and taken to hospital.

The Brewers Head of Medical Dr. Wycliffe Makanga told the Club's portal that the player had an orthopedic review on Monday, with specialists advising that Wandera takes a total medical rest for three weeks as they monitor his progress.

“He had an orthopedic review on Monday and is booked for a follow up review at the same hospital on December 6. He is advised to have a total medical rest for three weeks as we monitor his recovery and progress from home,” Dr. Makanga said.

Kevin Monyi took the place left by Wandera in the game and went on marshall the left flank to the end of the match, helping the team keep a clean sheet in a game that not conceding would have come handy had the Brewers won.

With the injury, Wandera will automatically miss the trip to Tunisia for the return clash set for Sunday this week as well as a couple of Football Kenya Federation Premier League if league action resumes this weekend as it has been set by the caretaker committee.

In the absence of Wandera, and with Sammy Meja having departed the team, Monyi is likely to be deployed on the left-back position as the former Nzoia Sugar player recuperates.
