The former Sofapaka FC man joined Tusker before the start of last season after an impressive campaign with Batoto ba Mungu. However, he found playtime hard to come by, as he was behind Ryan Ogam, Deogratious Ojok, and later David Polepole in the pecking order.
His struggles last season were compounded by the fact that he did not score any goals in the league.
In search of more game time, the club has decided to loan him out for the upcoming season. With just one year left on his contract, the St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale alumnus may well never play for the Ruaraka-based side again, but he will certainly be hoping to hit new heights in Thika.
“Tusker FC confirms that striker Jacob Onyango has joined Bidco United on loan for the 2025/26 season,” read the club’s statement in part.
“Onyango, who has been part of Tusker’s first-team setup since joining from Sofapaka FC at the start of last season, will link up with the Thika-based side in search of regular playing time and further development.”
The club added that the move will enable the player to get more minutes in the FKF Premier League, with the aim of helping him improve and become a better player.
“Onyango has shown flashes of promise with the Brewers, and the move is a strategic step to give him more top-flight exposure in a competitive environment.”
Club CEO Sam Nzau described the striker as one of the brightest young talents at the club and expressed confidence that he will thrive in Thika with more playtime, before returning as a better player.
“Jacob is one of the brightest young talents we have, and this loan to Bidco United will provide him with the opportunity to get consistent minutes and continue his growth.
We are confident that he will gain valuable experience and return to us an even better player.”
The Brewers have since reinforced their attack with several signings, including Erick Kapaito, Curtis Wekesa, Yakeen Muteheli, Dennis Oalo, and Douglas Omanga, who was promoted from the youth team.
