Njuguna's goal is all that Tusker needed to beat Ingwe

Tusker FC ended AFC Leopards' ten-match unbeaten run across all competitions with a 1-0 win over Ingwe in an FKF Premier League match played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Sunday afternoon.

Heading into the game, both teams were in fine form. Tusker had won their last four games, while Ingwe were unbeaten in 2024, a run that had seen them leave the relegation zone and climb to the eighth position in the standings.

Ingwe players had something extra to play for in the game as former defender Jonas Nahimana had pledged Ksh. 20,000 for every goal scored by the team against the Brewers to motivate Tomas Trucha’s men to give their best against Robert Matano’s troops.

Tusker started the game strongly in search of an early breakthrough, and Ingwe keeper Levis Opiyo was called into action a couple of times by John Njuguna and Erick Kapaito, who had a few chances early on.

The goal eventually came in the 35th minute through Njuguna, who beat Opiyo with a deflected shot after being set up by Mike Oduor.

Saphan Oyugi nearly added a second before the interval, but Opiyo was equal to the task.

Ingwe looked more determined after the break, and just before the hour mark, Brian Opondo was called into action to deny Arthur Gitego. Twelve minutes from time, Njuguna saw his curled effort narrowly miss the goal.

Nzoia, Talanta share the spoils

At the Sudi Stadium in Bungoma hosts Nzoia and FC Talanta shared the points in a 1-1 draw. Talanta, without suspended coach Ken Kenyatta, went ahead in the 11th minute through former Nzoia Sugar striker Alfred Tanui.

Victor Oyugi then drew the millers level in the 61st minute to earn his sides a share of the spoils.

Homeboys down Ulinzi Stars

At the Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega Homeboyz, hosts, beat Ulinzi Stars 2-0 to pile more misery on the soldiers. Hillary Juma opened the scoring in the 45th minute. Brian Eshihanda then doubled the home team’s lead in the 55th minute.

Kenya Police held

At Police Sacco Grounds, Salim Babu's Kenya Police had to dig deep to earn themselves a point after going down early to a Samuel Adebowale's header in the ninth minute.

The equalizer came in the 75th minute through Clinton Kinanga, as Police jumped to fourth spot on the log.

Muhoroni, on the other hand, remain in the relegation zone in 16th place.
