Tusker FC have made their second signing from Ulinzi Stars this transfer window, acquiring midfielder Issa Rashid Lumumba.
Lumumba is widely viewed as a replacement for David Odoyo, who recently joined Shabana FC.
The Ruaraka-based club had also last month raided the military side, signing exciting winger Yakeen Muteheli, who had also been on Shabana FC’s radar.

The former Kariobangi Sharks FC player leaves Ulinzi after three years and has penned a two-year deal with Tusker.
Nairobi United and AFC Leopards were reportedly interested in securing his services before he opted to join the 12-time league champions.
“In a bid to strengthen the midfield and bolster the squad for the new season, Tusker FC has signed midfielder Issa Lumumba on a one-year contract from Ulinzi Stars,” the club stated.
“Lumumba joins an already strong department, adding depth and steel to the squad ahead of the new campaign. A consistent performer for the Soldiers, he is expected to bring both energy and creativity to the Tusker engine room.”
Speaking to the club media after completing his move, Lumumba, an alumnus of St. Anthony’s Boys Kitale and winner of the national secondary school U16 and Copa Coca-Cola Africa U16 titles in 2018, as well as the national secondary school title in 2019, expressed his excitement about the new challenge.
“I am very happy to be here and ready to give my best. I want to help the team achieve its goals and also grow as a player. This is a club with high standards that regularly competes for the title, and for any player, you want to be in such an environment,” he said.
The midfielder acknowledges that earning a starting spot will be competitive, but is determined to impress coach Charles Okere and secure his place in the lineup.
“There is a lot of competition in my position, and that excites me. It will help me grow both as a player and as a person, and it will push me to give my best every day,” Lumumba added.
Coach Charles Okere welcomed the signing, emphasizing the value Lumumba will bring to the squad.
“Issa is a player who will bring a lot to the team. His experience in the league and his ability to control the midfield will be very valuable as we head into the season. He complements what we already have, giving us more options to work with,” the coach said.
