Celta led Barcelona 2-0 with ten minutes to go - but still lost the game

Football is a beautiful game. And football is the worst game. It depends on whether you ask Barcelona or Celta fans.

The team from Galicia travelled across Spain for a tough game at Montjuic and were determined to make the trek worthwhile. Rafael Benitez's team scored in each half, frustrated the hosts and earned a two-goal lead against the reigning champions of Spain. Still, Robert Lewandowski and Joao Cancelo staged a seven-minute thriller, turning the scoreline from 0-2 into 3-2. Celta's hearts are broken, and Barcelona fans scream with joy.

The Pole scored twice to make it 2-2, using assists from Joao Felix and Cancelo, and the Manchester City's loaned outcast scored a classy winner to give Barcelona a dramatic win.

It all looked perfect for the sky blues at first. A poor clearance from the home side allowed Luca de la Torre to poke through to Jorgen Strand Larsen, who gave Marc-Andre Ter Stegen no chance, placing the ball into the far corner. The surprise goal did little to change Barca's approach, and openings in the Celta defence remained few. In fact, the only other clear opportunity of the first half went the way of the visitors, as Larsen's header was saved well by Ter Stegen, and De la Torre fired over on the rebound.

While trying to make amends for a poor first half, a change of shape for Barcelona was accompanied by the introduction of teenage sensation Lamine Yamal. Celta nevertheless continued to enjoy most of the openings, and there was soon a deserved second. A quick counter saw Yago Aspas thread through Tasos Douvikas and the Greek substitute scored with his first touch of the game.

Ultimately, dominance for 80 minutes is often not enough when playing a side of Barcelona's quality. Nerves in the Celta camp were unsettled when Joao Felix superbly lifted the ball over the top to Robert Lewandowski, and the legendary striker lobbed Villar with style. The quick-fire equaliser came just minutes later when Cancelo pulled back for Lewandowski to smash in from the centre of the box, and the comeback was to be completed within a Hollywood-like final ten minutes. Gavi lobbed a pass over the entire Celta defence, where Cancelo steamed in to prod past Villar with a glorious touch that broke the visitors' hearts.
