The Red Devils smashed Bournemouth 4-1

When you team loses one or two pre-season friendlies, the main theme is always ‘It’s just pre season and we wanted to try some things’. But when you team wins their friendly games the narrative is quite different. So, you can imagine what the Manchester United’s fanbase is thinking after their players won their second pre season game. The Red Devils are on a tour to the USA and after winning 2-1 against West Ham, Ruben Amorim’s men were even more convincing against Bournemouth – 4:1.

The positives for United fans are not only the victory in both matches but also the display itself: the players were more into Amorim’s tactical and physical demands and it showed. In his 3-4-2-1 tactics, it was Diallo and Mount who were playing the two 10’s, while Bruno Fernandes was deeper behind with Casemiro. The most exciting thing for the supporters will be the fact that the win was created without the two newcomers Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. The Brazilian was left out due to fatigue, while the Cameroonian wasn’t even in the protocol.

It was also revealed that both players will be given the two number 10 roles and not the striker position, which explains why United is after Benjamin Sesko. He will be the the classic 9, while Hojlund will be his replacement. Also, there is a possibility that Manchester, who started negotiations with Leipzig will try to use the Danish striker into the deal and sell him to the German club in order to avoid the full amount for Sesko (75 million euros plus bonuses). But Hojlund will not go without a fight as he scored one goal in last night’s win.

Dorgu curled in an inviting cross from the left flank and Denmark international team-mate Hojlund timed his run and jump to perfection to glance a header past Bournemouth goalkeeper after only nine minutes. Dorgu then doubled United's lead in the 25th minute, latching on to a clever, lofted quick free-kick from Mason Mount, muscling his way into the area and sliding a cool finish beneath the advancing Petrovic. Diallo bundled in United's third in the 53rd minute before Amorim made nine changes with 20 minutes to go. Substitute Williams needed just two minutes to make an impact curling a low finish into the bottom corner to put United 4-0 up. The only blemish on United's performance came with an 88th-minute own goal from Matthijs de Ligt.
