Barcelona and Manchester City celebrate landslide victories against the minnows

Manchester City and Barcelona have rushed to landslide victories in the second round of the Champions League by beating Slovan Bratislava (4-0) and Young Boys (5-0).

Phil Foden scored and assisted as Manchester City clinched their first UCL win of the season in Slovakia. Foden opened his account with a composed finish into the bottom corner. Ilkay Gundogan also added his name to the scoreboard, while Erling Haaland scored his 11th goal of the season just before the hour mark, taking the ball past a goalkeeper to slot home.

Foden then assisted substitute James McAtee in getting his first City goal in the 74th minute to wrap up the tie.

On the other side of Europe, in Spain, Barca demonstrated their predatory instinct. Hansi Flick's team smashed Young Boys from Switzerland, as Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring in the 8th minute before Raphinha doubled the lead midway through the first half. Inigo Martinez made it 3-0 just a few minutes later, and from that moment, the game was basically over.

The underdogs were unable to impose any sort of resistance, conceding two more before the end. Maybe even more important for the Blaugrana than the victory itself is the fact Frenkie de Jong returned to the pitch after a severe injury, which kept him off the action for a long time.
