Manchester City, two Spanish giants and Bayern want to keep the strong start
Only four teams have a perfect record in the UEFA Champions League group stage so far: Bayern, Barcelona, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have won all their three matches. These top clubs are strong contenders for the tournament's victory and can move closer to the final at Wembley next year by securing their place in the round of 16 with a victory this week.
Manchester City are on the verge of securing a place in the last 16. All they need to be sure of is another win over the Swiss club Young Boys. However, they may have to play without striker Erling Haaland, who is doubtful due to an injury. Although Haaland trained on Monday, easing concerns of a long-term problem, his availability for the match will depend on his fitness. Manager Pep Guardiola might also prioritize the weekend's game against Chelsea as more crucial.

Reigning European champions City have won their first three matches in Group G and gained a 3-1 victory in Switzerland two weeks ago when the sides played the reverse fixture.
"We will try to finish and qualify for February and the next stage. It means a lot to the club. Being there is a success. It's more important than you can imagine because we can park the car until February and focus on the Premier League and others. We have to close it on Tuesday. You have to try to finish first. We have the chance to play the second game of the last 16 at home and that is definitely better."
Guardiola may contemplate some degree of squad rotation, especially against a team they defeated 3-0 two weeks ago in Switzerland. Young Boys currently lead the Swiss Super League, but their Champions League campaign has been less successful. They've earned just one point from their three group stage games. If they lose to Manchester City and RB Leipzig secures an away victory against Red Star Belgrade, Young Boys will be eliminated from contention for the last 16 of the Champions League.
But there are some huge clubs whose passage into the knockout round is wide open. Group F, hailed as one of the most competitive groups in recent years, has lived up to expectations. Paris, Dortmund, Newcastle, and Milan have already delivered entertaining matches, and it remains uncertain which two teams will advance, with only four points separating group leaders Paris and fourth-placed Milan.
Newcastle's coach, Eddie Howe, acknowledged the group's tight competition, especially after their recent home defeat to Dortmund. The return fixture at Westfalenstadion will give us a few answers.
