Ugandan quartet of William Oloya, Isa Masembe, Emmanuel Okudra, and Mashood Ssali will take charge of this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage match pitting Kakamega Homeboyz and Al Hilal Benghazi of Libya at the Nyayo Stadium starting at 3 PM EAT.
Oloya will whistle through the match, with Masembe and Okudra carrying the flags as the first and second assistants respectively while Ssali will act as the reserve referee.
In the officiating team, the only exclusion is that of Ethiopian Luleseged Begashaw who will serve as the match commissioner.
The Libyans touched down in the capital on Wednesday and will have ample time to prepare for the match, with Homeboyz also traveling on the same day to Nairobi from Kakamega.
The shield winners were in Nairobi on Saturday for the FKF Charity Shield game against Gor Mahia, a game that they lost 4-2 through penalties, but coach Patrick Odhiambo has since promised a more robust side for the continental engagement.
"The results we got in the Shield and the preceding friendly matches do not imply that we are not ready for the new season. The main objective of the matches we played was to spot the areas we need to work on in the remaining bits of the pre-season. You will see a different Homeboyz on Saturday," Odhiambo said earlier.
Before the match and the new season in general, Odhiambo is targeting to sharpen his forward line.
"The friendlies helped us realize the problem in the forward department. We haven’t been scoring goals from our chances. We will work on it," he added.
Meanwhile, tickets will retail at Ksh 500 for VIP section and Ksh 200 for the terraces and will be sold on the match day at Riadha House and at the Nyayo Stadium Police Post Gate starting at 9 AM.
