Danstun Nyaudo, the head coach of Ulinzi Stars has explained two key reasons that have occasioned his side's struggles this season.

The Soldiers have been struggling to get maximum points for the better part of the season and only got their first win in their sixth match of the campaign.

After back-to-back wins, the military side then failed to register a win in their next seven games before registering another consecutive victory.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, their head coach outlined what he believes has been ailing the team.

“From the word go, I said I am trying to build a team at Ulinzi that is going to be formidable in the next two years.

Most of our players are young. I have an average age of 22. Apart from Muchiri, Enosh and maybe two others, the rest are inexperienced,” said Nyaudo.

There was a mass exodus of senior players at Ulinzi prior to the start of the season, forcing Nyaudo to go to the teams in the military settings and draw young and inexperienced players to fill in the vacant spaces.

The frequent international breaks have also not been kind to the 2010 Premier League champions, at least according to their head coach.

“The other reason why we have been inconsistent and drop off is that every time we try to pick up momentum, there is an international break and for my young squad, we have to start fresh again,” he added.

Ulinzi won their last league match and are now at position 14 in the league standings with 19 points after 16 rounds of matches. They are still in the relegation matrix as they sit just four points above Bidco United who are 16th.

After registering back-to-back wins, Nyaudo will be hoping to continue with the fine form when the club visits Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday 18 January 2025 at the Dandora Stadium from 1300 hrs.
