The legendary former BVB player, who is plying his trade in the MLS, returned home on Wednesday night, proving once again what this club means to him
Marco Reus was back at his old home, the mythical Westfalen on Wednesday night, but not where many expected him.
The former Borussia Dortmund captain, joined by fellow club icon Kevin Grosskreutz, chose to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Sudtribune ultras rather than watch the Champions League clash against FK Bodo/Glimt from the VIP section.

Reus celebrated Julian Brandt's early opener with the most fanatical corner of the stadium, fully immersing himself in the atmosphere. But he also experienced the flip side, just like every supporter: Waldemar Anton’s sudden injury, Daniel Svensson's entrance, and Bodo/Glimt's instant response. Aleesami's 42nd-minute equaliser briefly deflated the entire stand, including the two BVB legends.

After the break, Brandt restored Dortmund's lead, sparking renewed celebrations, only for the visitors to shock the crowd again. Former Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jens Petter Hauge struck in the 75th minute to make it 2-2, earning the Norwegians a prestigious point while deepening Dortmund's frustration.
For BVB boss Niko Kovac, the draw brings the same old storyline: just when his side seems defensively stable, another setback follows. And this one stings even more, given the atmosphere and expectations surrounding the match.
It also didn't go unnoticed that Kovac started without either of his centre-forwards, Serhou Guirassy or Karim Adeyemi - two players who have already publicly shown their frustration over limited minutes and early substitutions. Their reactions in the coming days may become another storyline for Dortmund to manage.
Meanwhile, Reus' choice to stand among the ultras was a reminder of his bond with the club - even on a night that ended without victory.
