Victory for Clarke Oduor as Ayunga's St Mirren get hammered

Harambee Stars prospect Clarke Oduor played almost the whole length of the match as Hartlepool came from behind to beat Grimsby in an English League Two match on Saturday afternoon.

By collecting maximum points in the match, Hartlepool ended their four-match losing streak in the league and climbed off the bottom of the league table past Colchester into second last.

The midfielder who is on loan from League One side Barnsley was withdrawn in the last minute of stoppage time as the referee was about to end the match, with Brody Paterson taking up his place.

Gavan Holohan had given the visitors the lead early in the first half after just six minutes, and the match continued for 72 minutes without a goal only for Alex Lacey to draw Hartlepool level with 12 minutes left on the clock.

The equalizer gave Hartlepool fresh fighting spirit, and their efforts were rewarded again four minutes later as Niall Maher put the ball into his own net to give the hosts the lead for the first time in the game, and when it mattered most.

Hibernian 3-0 St Mirren

In Scotland, another Kenyan, Jonah Ayunga, featured for 70 minutes as his side St Mirren got hammered 3-0 by Hibernian in a Championship league match

Martin Boyle opened the scoring for Hibernian in the fourth minute of stoppage time from the spot to see his side lead into the break, a lead they thought they had taken after just eight minutes in the game only for the VAR to chalk off Mykola Kukharevych's goal.

Kukharevych strike three minutes after the hour mark, and this time the goal stood, to see the hosts double the advantage, with Ewan Henderson making it 3-0 four minutes later.

With 20 minutes left to play in the game, Ayunga was rested and his place taken up by Alex Greive as they sought for even a consolation but it would not come to be.
