
Vihiga Queens blow chance to go top after below par show against students

Police Bulkets remain at the top of the league with 31 points, one ahead of Vihiga who have played two more matches than the Law Enforcers
Vihiga Queens, once again, wasted a golden chance to go top of the FKF Women's Premier League (WPL) after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Zetech Sparks in a match played at the Mamboleo Stadium, Kisumu.
Heading into the match, Vihiga were second on the WPL log with 29 points, a tally similar to that of Ulinzi Starlets and two shy of defending champions Kenya Police Bullets FC.
Varsity side Zetech Sparks, on the other hand, were fifth with 24 points, courtesy of their good run that had seen them secure three wins in their previous five matches.
With the standings in mind, Vihiga needed a win to assume to scale to the summit and put pressure on the Law Enforcers.
However, their ambitions crumbled as they could not manage to maximize on their home advantage, failing to find the back of the net over 90 minutes to settle for a point.
Blowing up a chance to go top has been a characteristic of the Boniface Nyamunyamu.
In the other matches played on Saturday, 14 February, Kibera Soccer Women secured a 2-1 win over Kayole Starlets while Gideon Starlets completed a double over Kisumu Allstarlets with a 3-1 victory.
The day's biggest winners were Madira Soccer Assassins who grabbed a 4-0 win over Kisped Queens.
As it stands Police, with two games in hand, remain at the top of the league with 31 points, while Vihiga are second with Ulinzi closing the top three with 29 points.
In the relegation zone, Kisped Queens are at the bottom of the log with -2 points, one shy of Kisumu Allstarlets as Gideon Starlets close the bottom three with 16 points.
