Chaos at Santiago Bernabeu is set to begin

A few days ago, the Spanish media outlet Diario AS announced that Vinicius Junior would undoubtedly extend his deal with Real Madrid. However, today a brand new - and completely opposite - information came from The Athletic's journalist Mario Cortegana, who claimed the Brazilian would extend his contract under no circumstances until his relationship with the manager Xabi Alonso is resolved!

Vini's latest outrage occurred at last month's El Clasico when he was furious with the tactician because of a substitution, but things seemed to have been sorted out. After all, Alonso confirmed it himself.

Consequently, AS announced the imminent extension, but The Athletic shortly denied the claims, citing sources close to the club and the player.

Namely, a few days after the win over Barcelona, Vini met with Madrid's president Florentino Perez to discuss the eventual extension, but the forward reportedly raised concerns about the matter, all due to his strained relationship with the manager.

This latent conflict between the two has been going on since the FIFA Club World Cup, when Alonso benched Vini in the semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain. In general, the Brazilian wasn't included in the lineup four times this season, and didn't finish as many as 17 games on the pitch.

What intensified the allegations about the discord was the fact that Vinicius apologized for his behaviour following the El Clasico, to the fans, club, teammates, and president - but not Alonso.

The 25-year-old signed his last five-year deal with Los Blancos in 2022, according to which he earns €18 million annually. Earlier this year, Madrid's management offered Vini a €2 million salary increase, but the forward rejected it, demanding €30 million per year - the amount only Cristiano Ronaldo earned in the club's history.

Hence, Perez will have to take the role of a firefighter and put out the feud flaring up between the coach and one of the best players. The 78-year-old is known to be fond of Vinicius, but Alonso's good results and the top of the La Liga table mustn't be underestimated either.

In the end, one thing's certain - no one would want to be in Perez's shoes at the moment.
