The tournament will kick off on July 2 and runs all the way to July 23, 2022 in Rabat and Casablanca

Africa's continental football body CAF and their technical sponsor Umbro on Friday unveiled the official match ball for the continent's flagship women's football competition, the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The WAFCON is set for Morocco starting next weekend to July 23 and promises to be an energetic wave of energy and excitement as Africa’s elite women’s footballers battle it out for the title of queens of African football.

CAF said that the official match ball is inspired by the new visual identity of African women's football that is slowly taking over the world stage.

"African women’s football has shown a bright, colourful new face to the world as its stars command the world stage, and the official ball of the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is inspired by the new visual identity of African women’s football," part of the statement read.

The tournament’s match ball’s strong identity is made of colors filled with symbols related to football and represents the values of unity, progress, challenge, initiative, diversity and experience that has characterized the growth of African women’s football to reach the lofty heights it occupies today.

The continental showpiece will be hosted across two cities, Rabat and Casablanca, and kicks off with a clash pitting hosts Morocco and Burkina Faso at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
