The former Naivas man is yet to score a goal this season

Bidco United forward John Walubuka has admitted to being under pressure to open his goal account in the 2023–24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League season.

Walubuka returned to Bidco before the season began from National Super League side Naivas, but he has yet to find the back of the net in the opening seven rounds of the season.

The forward, who has three starts and a couple of second-half cameos, joined Bidco on the back of being one of the best scorers in the second tier, where he hit more than double digits in back-to-back seasons.

However, he has found the going tough in his second spell in the top tier, as he has yet to deposit something in his goal account from the minutes he has amassed.

“I think I have been unlucky in front of the goal. I have been working hard on the pitch but still haven’t enjoyed the fruits of my labor. The drought is obviously a source of worry for me,” said Walubuka.

Bidco have collectively found the back of the net seven times in as many matches’, statistics which do not sit well with Walubuka, who is challenging his fellow forwards at the club to step up.

With the Thika-based club set to face record champions Gor Mahia this weekend, the former Sofapaka goalkeeper is confident of positive results.

Since their promotion to the top league, Bidco has yet to beat Gor. The two teams have met seven times, with K’Ogalo winning three and the other four contests ending evenly.

“I am sure we will win the game, past results of the fixture and our opponents’ form notwithstanding. I am also hoping that I will score in the game,” added Walubuka.

Gor are yet to taste defeat in the campaign and sit second with 15 points, one off log leaders Posta Rangers, who are scheduled to host Bandari this weekend.
