Wazito defender credits hard work to his sharp rise

Swaleh was just a season old when Wazito signed him

Wazito centre back Swaleh Hamisi has credited his sharp rise from lower division football to the gracing the top flight division to hard work and luck.

Francis Kimanzi captured the defender from National Super League side Coast Stima in the ongoing transfer window and went on to hand him his debut in their league opener against FC Talanta.

Hamisi revealed that he was just a season old at Stima when Wazito bosses made the important call that saw him scale to the top football competition in the country.

The soft spoken defender said that prior to joining Stima who has since rebranded to Coast Heroes, he was plying his trade with boyhood club Ziwani Youth.

"Two years ago, I was in the lower divisions but through hard work and luck, I have found my way to the top league within a short time. It has not been easy for I have broken sweat in training and on the pitch for me to be where I am today," he said.

At the same time, Hamisi thanked Kimanzi for bringing him to the top league and believing in him in the round one of the season as well as helping him fine tune his defensive skills. 

The player who harbors dreams of playing for the national team, Harambee Stars rubbished suggestion that he was nervous on his debut saying that Kimanzi had bequeathed him with confidence for the week he had trained under him.

" The decision by the coach to play me in the opener considering that I had only trained with the team for a week shows that he has trust in my abilities. He is a good coach whom I believe will get the best out of me and will help me achieve my dreams Picking me ahead of the experienced defenders gave me confidence on day one and will always draw inspiration from the game, " he added.
