The team will also be boosted by the return of combative midfielder Fidel Origa who finished his red card suspension

With just one day left before Wazito FC host Kariobangi Sharks at the Kasarani Annex, the news of a full house at the home side has been music to the ears of interim head coach Fred Ambani who has a whole squad at his disposal.

Since taking over from the sacked Francis Kimanzi midway through January 2022, Ambani had a perfect start off the line as he collected seven points from the opening three games (W2 D1). His immediate managerial bounce was however brought back to earth with the club losing back to back games against Ulinzi Stars and Wazito.

In their last outing against Kenya Police FC, the head coach managed to return the team back to winning ways in a thrilling 2-3 win against Kenya Police. As they prepare to take on Sharks on Friday, the interim head expressed his delight at the preparations they have had as he welcomed back combative defensive midfielder Fidel Origa back into the squad following his red card.

“We have not had any injuries in training this week thankfully. Also, Fidel Origa is back with the squad after serving his red card suspension. That is a big boost as we have all the players available for Sharks. I now have a healthy selection headache because I have a very good squad depth to work with. We trained well this week after our win in the last league fixture and I expect us to carry on with that form,” the head coach told the club’s media.

On the other hand, former Sofapaka talisman Elli Asieche who scored the opening goal in the win against Police reiterated on the team’s desire to get themselves out of the bottom five places where the team has stuck in since the year started.

“The last win was important as it helps us with the direction we want to move in. When you look at the table, we are not where we want to be. We needed that win for the confidence to face the upcoming matches. The morale since then has been high and every player is fighting for a place in the squad. That is what we need at the moment,” he said.

As things stand, the Ricardo Badoer funded outifit are sat in 15th place on 19 points, just four above the relegation places.
