Former Gor Mahia goalkeeper and Sofapaka midfielder Eli Asieche are part of four new signings at the club.

Wazito has once again become the most active club in the transfer window after staging major coups with the signing of Sofapaka midfielder Eli Asieche and former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Levis Opiyo.

The signing comes barely a day after Sofapaka confirmed the release of Asieche following an agreement with the club to mutually part ways.

Speaking after signing for Wazito, Asieche revealed that the transfer was a no brainer as he has a couple of close contacts in the team.

“Wazito was an easy choice because it is a team with a good structure. I also have friends in the team and I felt that it would help me settle easily. I am here to create and score goals for the team. I am also excited to work with coach Francis Kimanzi who understands me and I will give my best in Wazito colours,” said Asieche.

Wazito have also galvanised their squad with the signings of Erick Otieno from Nzoia Sugar FC and John Odhiambo formerly with Ushuru FC.

In a rejig at the club, Steven Odhiambo, Castro Ogendo, and Edwin ‘Euro’ Omondi have been loaned out for the remainder of the season after struggling for game time following their arrival at the start of the season.

Former Western Stima duo of Odhiambo and Omondi will be heading back to The Power men while Castro heads to National Super League (NSL) side, Kisumu All Stars.

Incoming Eric Otieno joins the club barely a fortnight after scoring against them in a league match at the MISC Kasarani Annex on Friday, January 22.

The former Kakamega High School alumnus was delighted to join Wazito and is eager to work with coach Francis Kimanzi.

“I am happy to be here. Wazito is a big, ambitious team with quality players and I will work hard to earn my place in the team. As a striker, my job is to score goals and I am going to do my best to score,” he said.

“Coach Kimanzi is one of the best in the country and under him, I am going to learn a lot. I am looking forward to this exciting journey with Wazito FC,” said Otieno.

Opiyo will join Wazito’s goalkeeping department that consists of Peter Odhiambo and teenager Bixente Otieno.

Wazito had only one natural left-back Dennis Ng’ang’a and opted to dive into the transfer market for a backup, signing Odhiambo has also previously turned out for Mathare United and KCB.
