The 20-time Kenyan champions are second on the log with seven points after three matches
Watch out for K'Ogalo! These were the sentiments of Irish tactician Johnathan McKinstry on Sunday after Gor Mahia whitewashed Nairobi City Stars to claim a 4-1 win at Kasarani Stadium.
Benson Omala grabbed a brace in the game, with Rooney Onyango and Austin Odhiambo scoring one goal apiece while Dennis Oalo grabbed the consolation for Simba wa Nairobi.
The win pushed Gor Mahia to second on the standings with seven points, same as Posta Rangers who have a one-goal advantage on the goal difference.
According to the Irishman, the win victory was a statement of intent on what the record Kenyan champions plan on doing this season to retain the league title.
As much as they got the statement result, McKinstry revealed that the players gauged themselves at 70% of what they are capable of doing, noting that there is still work to be done.
"Before the game, we told the players we wanted a statement result and performance. Two weeks ago against Ulinzi you saw the iron in this team that we can go and fight in any environment and pick up three points and today (Sunday) you saw a different type of performance, more passing moves and more free-flowing.
We got the result sound of it but on performance, the players think they gave 70% of what we can do. Definitely, there is a lot of room for growth, both for individual players and as a team. we are happy, but there is more to come," McKinstry said.
K'Ogalo's new signings dazzled in the game, with the team playing dominantly and with the swagger of a 20-time champion.
Up next is a trip to Kakamega to face off with Kakamega Homeboyz at Bukhungu Stadium.
