Liverpool lose at City Ground 1-0 despite numerous clear-cut chances after conceding to their former player
Who could have predicted this!? Nottingham Forest have knocked down Liverpool 1-0 in the opening match of the Premier League Saturday programme. And who is the man to 'blame' for it? No other than Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi, the former Reds' player who never got his chance at Anfield as the club sent him to not less than seven loans before selling him to Union Berlin three years ago!

The Tricky Trees managed to top the Reds in the electric clash at City Ground, which is their only second win of the season, while the visitors face the third loss.
It was a match with lots of chances on both sides, as Lingard, Van Dijk, Salah, Yates and others missed some clear-cut opportunities. However, Awoniyi netted for a probably crucial victory in the current campaign for his struggling side.
Taiwo Awoniyi signed for Liverpool at 18-years old. He was sent out on loan 7 times in 6 seasons and never played a single minute at the club before being sold.

The three-point-worth goal came shortly after the break, following a spot kick near the halfway line. It was a simplistic yet powerful set-pieces manoeuvre, which saw Awoniyi hitting the bar before finding the back of the net after the ball came back to him on the edge of the six-yard box.
Klopp's slot was trying to bounce back, but too many misses took its toll, especially in the traumatic stoppage time. Van Dijk alone had three amazing chances, two of them near the final whistle, but Forest keeper Dean Henderson was one of the heroes of the match.
The Scousers are now seventh at the moment but could fall to tenth place by the end of the day.
