Al-Ittihad and Al Hilal thought they would reinforce their squads on the transfer window deadline day, but then Cristiano appeared with his complaints, causing a domino effect and a veto on the already-agreed moves

Ever since he joined Saudi Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has constantly faced failures. He didn't win a single major trophy, while the rival clubs Al Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Ahli combined for 10 pieces of silverware in the same period.

Even though Al-Nassr spent over €400 million on Sadio Mane, Joao Felix, Jhon Duran, Marcelo Brozovic, Kingsley Coman, and other stars, there was no success for the Global One and the Portuguese.

All that must have angered Cristiano, but the last straw was the agreed move of Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad to Al Hilal, currently Al-Nassr's biggest opponent in the title race. Ronaldo felt that PIF (Public Investment Fund) - the owner of all four Saudi giants mentioned above - prioritized the rivals, refusing to play against Al Riyadh today.

Given his towering status in the country, it's no wonder the alarms went off across Saudi Arabia. Following Ronaldo's complaint, Al-Nassr CEO Jose Semedo and sporting director Simao Coutinho - both CR7's friends, whom he brought to the club - demanded reinforcements for their team from the Saudi football officials.

Consequently, the country's leadership reacted by vetoing Benzema's move to Al Hilal, triggering a shocking domino effect.

Namely, Al-Ittihad had already agreed with Fenerbahce on the arrival of the Moroccan Youssef En-Nesyri as a replacement for the Frenchman, while N'Golo Kante was supposed to go in the opposite direction and join the Turkish side.

Now, all three deals are spoiled, all because of Ronaldo!

The January Transfer Window in Saudi Arabia lasts until midnight, so we'll see whether these potential moves are just on stand-by, or CR7's influence is stronger than the whole Saudi football.
