The CAF has opened an investigation to verify the allegations of FECOFA on the alleged 'identity theft' of the player
The CAF has given them four days. That should be enough time for the Gabonese federation to assure the Africa's football governing body of the true identity of their star Guelor Kanga (30).
Because someone is lying - either them or the Congolese football federation, which claims that Kanga's actual name is Kiaku-Kiaku Kianga and that he's a 35-year-old Congolese player.
Those serious allegations were presented to the very CAF, who has subsequently opened an investigation to verify the possible 'identity theft'.
If Gabon fails to prove that Kanga-Kianga's papers are legal and trustworthy, it could backlash heavily for them, including even the ban from the African Cup of Nations.
"We hereby inform you that CAF has opened an investigation into the case in question. You are kindly requested to send us your comments concerning the allegations mentioned in the correspondence of FECOFA in order to allow us to submit the complete file to the competent bodies of CAF," is said in the letter from CAF addressed to the FEGAFOOT.
Kanga has spent the last eight years playing in several eastern European clubs with lots of success, especially in the shirt of his current club, Red Stal Belgrade.
