Tusker last won the domestic cup in 2016, and will be aiming to end a decade-long wait for the trophy
Tusker FC head coach Julien Mette has, all but, conceded the FKF Premier League title race this season, admitting his side has no realistic chance.
He insists that their fair chance at winning a title lies in the Mozzart Bet Cup.

With nine matches left to play, the Brewers sit on 37 points, trailing league leaders Gor Mahia by a staggering 19 points.
Factoring in Tusker’s inconsistency throughout the campaign, Mette acknowledged that their pursuit of a 13th league title is no longer attainable.
Their only remaining hope for silverware lies in the Mozzart Bet Cup, where they have progressed to the Round of 16 and are set to face Kariobangi Sharks for a place in the quarterfinals.
Tusker last won the domestic cup in 2016, and will be aiming to end a decade-long wait for the trophy.
Speaking to Sporty FM, the Frenchman was frank about the club’s revised ambitions. “We cannot fight for the league title this season, but the main objective is to win the Mozzart Bet Cup.”
Mette believes Tusker have a genuine chance of lifting the trophy, particularly after both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards were eliminated by minnows BB Bread FC, opening up the competition.
“The two best teams in Kenya are not in the competition, so we have to take our chance. As I said, the first target is to win the trophy, and the second is to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup, which means more money, more sponsors, and a better image at the international level.”
For Mette, success in the cup could mark the beginning of a broader transformation at Tusker.
He views it as a pathway to continental football and long-term competitiveness at the highest level.
“Winning the Cup earns you a CAF slot, which helps attract better players. From there, you can compete at the national level, and in two or three years move from the Confederation Cup to the Champions League and start a new story, a new chapter in the club’s history.”
