Shumah, who has been an ever present feature for Aba Yellow, was conspicuously missing from coach Oswald Mutapa’s staring lineup, with the club moving swiftly to explain his absence.

“Moses Shumah misses out due to illness,” Power Dynamos posted before the match.

The unfortunate development put a hold on the Kenyan’s hot goal-scoring streak this month, which had seen him net eight goals across all competitions, with seven of them coming in the league.

Despite his absence, Dynamos extended their run of victories to five straight games, putting them just a couple of results away from clinching their ninth league championship.

Facing a tough match against Zanaco, it was the hosts who took the lead in the 25th minute through Fredrick Mulambia, to give Dynamos a 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half witnessed more Dynamos domination, as they went on to double their lead through Dominic Chanda, who scored from a rebound to ensure all the three points remained home.

Victory for Dynamos means they now have a 12-point lead on top of the table, with only five games till the end of the season.

For Shumah, he will hope to bounce back quickly, even as he eyes the league’s long-standing single-season record of 26-goals, set by Winston Kalengo.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz striker is ,currently, on 21 league goals, a tally that has him in prime position to win the 'Golden Boot'award.

Power Dynamos are also in contention to lift the country’s domestic cup - Absa Cup - having booked their place in the final last Saturday. The final will see them take on Red Arrows on Saturday, 10 May.
