Former Coast Stima goalkeeper Brandon Obiero has opened up on Kariobangi Sharks producing good goalkeepers.
Kariobangi Sharks custodian Brandon Obiero has fit into life in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) like a glove and opened up on the good goalkeeping at the club.
Sharks was home to John Oyemba who represented Kenya at the 2019 African Cup of Nations, Gad Mathews who is now at Gor Mahia and Brian Bwire who has also been part of the Harambee Stars squad.
Obiero joins the list of goalkeepers who have carved out a name for themselves at Sharks after joining the club from Coast Stima before the start of the season.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Obeiro revealed that Sharks producing a number of good goalkeepers boils down to self-determination and competent coaches.
“Working hard is the only secret to being a better player. Being a dedicated player also helps and when you are in a team like Sharks you also interact with good coaches. My good form has been down to being prepared. when you are a second keeper you have to be ready to take your chances,” said Obiero.

Having played in the National Super League (NSL) with Coast Stima, the prodigy opened up on the difference between the second tier and the FKFPL and also lauded his teammates for his impressive form.
“The difference between the two leagues is that in the NSL people tend to be more physical but the Premier League is top level, there are a lot of things involved in terms of mental strength - it is not just about physic," he said,
“As much as I get credit for clean sheets, I think the whole team has also contributed because they encourage me not to concede as clean sheets help us get better results,” added Obiero.
The goalkeeper kept three consecutive clean sheets for Sharks but conceded his first goal in the win over Mathare United with Sharks keeping only two clean sheets all season before he replaced Bwire between the sticks.
