What a shock it would be if the German returned to the place where he achieved his greatest successes…
Liverpool find themselves deep in a slump. Three defeats in their last four matches and a heavy 1–4 home loss to Eindhoven in the Champions League have pushed the Reds into a full-blown crisis.
Manager Arne Slot now sits under intense scrutiny. And what if the Dutchman can’t stop the slide? According to the English outlet “The Sun”, Liverpool have quietly discussed a stunning fallback plan: bringing Jurgen Klopp back as a temporary solution! Klopp has been serving as Red Bull’s “Global Head of Soccer” since January 2025, after leading Liverpool from 2015 to 2024.
🚨 Jürgen Klopp is committed to his role as Red Bull's head of global soccer and a return to Liverpool is unlikely should the club make the decision to sack Arne Slot.

Could a shock return actually happen?
The report claims Klopp would guide the squad only until the end of the season. The logic behind the idea: Liverpool supposedly view Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique as their preferred long-term appointment. In the club’s dream scenario, Klopp would steady the ship and later hand it over to the Spaniard in far healthier condition. Slot is still clinging to his job, and Sunday’s 2–0 win over West Ham at least eased the pressure slightly.
He insists he still feels supported. After the Eindhoven humiliation, he said of his talks with the hierarchy: “These are the same conversations we’ve had since I arrived — the same as over the past year and a half.”
Yet The Sun reports that senior figures at the club fear the dressing room may be slipping away from him. Liverpool splashed 482.9 million euros in the summer window, highlighted by the 125 million euros signing of Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen.
Jurgen Klopp on rejecting the Germany job in 2023:

"I didn't want to. I couldn't leave Liverpool like that. There was a team, there were people with whom I had a relationship. I wanted to fix it again. That was important to me.” ❤️pic.twitter.com/uOlEYp8OmQ
The return on that investment has been disappointing: eighth place in the league, eleven points behind leaders Arsenal (should the Gunners beat Chelsea), and two losses in their first five Champions League fixtures.
Whether Slot survives this storm remains uncertain. If he doesn’t, Klopp’s phone might be ringing sooner than expected…
