The Congo international is angry as the club broke a promise to let him go
Keith Andrews unexpectedly became the Brentford coach this June. He was ‘only’ a set-piece coach until Thomas Frank got the call from Tottenham. The Dane couldn’t turn down that offer and without a proper replacement (for various reasons), the Bees’ ownership decided to promote Andrews. But soon, the sellout started. Bryan Mbeumo joined Manchester United, Mark Flekken joined Bayer and captain Christian Norgaard decided to move to London and play for Arsenal. But on top of all that, Newcastle called and asked about Yoane Wissa’s price. Brentford didn’t want to lose two top strikers and now Andrews is even calling out Wissa, telling the press that the striker ‘owes him’.

Brentford boss had been talking for talkSPORT and pointed out that the helped Wissa’s productivity last season as the set-piece coach.
"I have got a good relationship with Wiss. I worked really hard with him last year to try and find goals. Seven of his 19 goals last year came from set pieces. He owes me really, so he shouldn't be going anywhere, to be blunt!" he said.
But the Congo international is really trying to force a move to Newcastle and wants to play in the Champions League. The problem is similar to the one the Magpies have with Alexandar Isak, but this time, facts are on Wissa’s side. Apparently, he had a gentlment’s agreement with the Bees last season that if a right offer comes, he will be allowed to leave, and the Congo striker now sees that the club is not letting him go. Wissa believes Brentford have broken a verbal pact last June that allowed him to leave for around 26 million pounds. He even agreed not to ask for improved terms last summer, believing he could depart in 12 months. Wissa had several options last June but told Brentford that he was prepared to stay an extra year after Ivan Toney left and the knee sustained by Igor Thiago.
Isak’s future is directly to any striker coming in (or not).

Wissa has been seen as the banker for a few weeks, which is why NUFC have waited.
If Wissa does not happen, the chances of Isak going reduce dramatically.
Liverpool are watching closely, I’m told. https://t.co/Bx1GLmzRm0
The club rejected Newcastle’s bid, stating that they need to find a replacement first. Another African arrived for the club’s record fee - Burkina Faso international Ouattara was bought from Bournemouth, but when the Magpies came back for Wissa, the price was up to 60 million pounds and the explanation? Ouattara was a replacement for Mbeumo and not Wissa. Newcastle won’t pay so much money for a 29 years old striker and DR Congo international got even angrier and deleted all his Brentford related footage from his Instagram account. What will happen until the end of the transfer window nobody knows.
