The Tore Bobe ladies sealed their historic rise after defeating Lowland Starlets 3-1 at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho to emerge champions of the FKF Women's National Super League Zone B.
A brace from Mongina Christine alongside another strike from Purity Akinyi proved enough to hand the Kisii-based side a second promotion in just three years.
Shabana Starlets were formed three years ago and first featured in the Regional League during the 2023/2024 season.
That campaign saw them earn promotion to the Women's National Super League, which had just been introduced into the women’s football structure.
It was during the same 2024/2025 season that Ogechi, who was still actively playing for Shabana’s men’s team, joined the women’s side as interim head coach before later taking over the role permanently.
In their debut WNSL campaign, which saw Madira Soccer Assassins secure promotion from Zone B, Ogechi guided the team to a respectable seventh-place finish with 24 points.
At the end of that season, the club changed its name from Kisii Queens to Shabana Starlets, a move that signalled stronger financial and structural backing from the men’s side.
That investment has now paid off handsomely, with the club finishing ahead of second-placed Elimu Starlets, who will now head into the promotion playoffs.
Shabana Starlets amassed 44 points from 18 matches to clinch the Zone B title, while Elimu finished second on 39 points.
The Kisii-based side now joins Mathare United Women, who secured promotion from Zone A, in next season’s FKF Women's Premier League campaign.
Meanwhile, Bandari Queens will face Elimu Starlets in a playoff to determine the final team to gain promotion to the top tier.
The promotion of Shabana Starlets now means that Shabana joins Kenya Police, Ulinzi Stars, and Mathare United among clubs with both men’s and women’s teams competing in the top flight of Kenyan football.
