It was a no-brainer the charismatic tactician would lean towards his 'old love', the robust striker with whom he shares some wonderful Inter Milan memories

What a surprise!

Just a few hours after Antonio Conte's deal with Napoli has been made public and officially signed, the Italian press have already came up with the exclusive information about his possible maiden reinforcement with the Partenopei.

Several different sources claim Conte has already spoken with Chelsea-owned striker Romelu Lukaku to see if he would be available during this transfer window.

Il Corriere della Sera and Sky Sport transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio report that Conte has already contacted Lukaku to inquire about his availability to join Napoli in the upcoming transfer window.

It's a reasonable move bearing in mind the fact Victor Osimhen is expected to leave for his €130m clause and Conte has identified Lukaku as the ideal replacement for the Nigeria international.

The 54-year-old tactician is so eager to reunite with the robust striker - with whom he worked at Inter Milan between 2019 and 2021 - that he called him even before the club's announcement.

Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta dello Sport claim Milan are also interested in Lukaku, especially if Chelsea agree to loan him out again, after two previous loans to Inter and Roma.
