During the investigation, Solanki's role as Treasurer will be filled by Kennedy Obuya, who has been appointed as the interim Treasurer

Cricket Kenya Treasurer Kalpesh Solanki has been suspended from his duties following a resolution passed by the Cricket Kenya executive board on August 28, 2024.

The suspension is intended to facilitate an ongoing investigation into the financial management and utilization of Cricket Kenya's funds, according to a statement issued by CEO Ronald Bukusi on September 1, 2024.

The decision to suspend Solanki stems from concerns over the proper utilization of funds allocated for jerseys in 2022. The Cricket Kenya executive board, invoking Articles 8.4.3, 8.4.5, and 11.1 of the Cricket Kenya Constitution, established a sub-committee to conduct a thorough investigation into these financial matters. The sub-committee's mandate includes examining whether the funds were used in accordance with the relevant budget, a court order, and Cricket Kenya's policies.

In addition to investigating the jersey funds, the sub-committee will scrutinize the overall financial management and utilization of Cricket Kenya's funds from the time the current board took office up until August 28, 2024. The scope of the investigation includes verifying whether payments made in and out of Cricket Kenya accounts were in compliance with the organization's constitution, administrative policies, board resolutions, and the terms imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The sub-committee, which includes Pauline Njeru, Beryl Oyugi, Pearlyne Omamo, and a representative from the Sports Registrar's office, has been tasked with submitting a written and signed report of their findings and recommendations to the Cricket Kenya Council at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM). The council will then make a final decision based on the sub-committee's report.

During the investigation, Solanki's role as Treasurer will be filled by Kennedy Obuya, who has been appointed as the interim treasurer and will serve as an account signatory for all Cricket Kenya bank accounts. The updated bank mandate now includes Obuya, Chair Manoj Patel, Vice Chair Maina Kamau, Beryl Oyugi, and CEO Bukusi, with Bukusi being a mandatory signatory.
