The Kenyan representatives are set to face Tairat on Thursday in penultimate group stage match
Kenya's representatives in the Africa Cup for Club Championship Hockey tournament Wazalendo have begun their quest to return to the continental scene with a bang sourly after going down fighting 2-1 to Zamalek of Egypt at the Theodosia Okoh Stadium in Ghana.
Wazalendo who are under the tutelage of Ngungu Njogu made their debut in the prestigious tournament in 2007 and returned to the showpiece hoping to break Egypt’s dominance in the tournament that is making a comeback after a year-long hiatus.
Last year, the organizers were forced to shelve the competition owing to the health threat posed by coronavirus and are set to crown a new champion in the men's category as Egyptian giants El- Sharkia will not be defending their title.

They were supposed to be accompanied by champions Butali Warriors but the sugarmen pulled out of the tournament alongside the ladies champions Blazers and runner up USIU-A Spartans.
The Kenyan side will be seeking redemption when they face Tairat in the second group stage match on Thursday and take on the host club two days later.
