
All systems go as inaugural Eliud Owalo Foundation Basketball Tournament nears

Twelve teams (six men and six women) are set to battle it out at the inaugural Eliud Owalo Foundation basketball tournament set for 10-12 May at Nyayo and Ulinzi Complex.
In the women's division, Storms, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Equity Hawks , Zetech Sparks, Strathmore Swords and USIU Flames will compete.
KPA, Ulinzi Warriors, USIU Tigers, Equity Dumas, Nairobi City Thunder and Strathmore Blades will vie for men's title.
At stake is Ksh 1.3m in prize money with the top four teams and outstanding players set to be rewarded.
"This is such a good nurturing ground and a platform for players to showcase their talent. The tournament is expected to lift the standards of the game and make Kenyan basketball as competitive as possible in the continent," CS Owalo said during the event's launch.
Exciting battles are expected with league holders KPA who remain unbeaten in the national league facing nemesis Equity Hawks and Storms in the group stage. The other group is a varsity derby as Sparks take on Flames and Swords.
In the men's category, KPA face off with Warriors and Tigers in one group while Dumas, Thunder and Blades compete in the other.

Men Pool A: KPA, Ulinzi Warriors and USIU Tigers.
Men Pool B: Equity Bank Dumas, Nairobi City Thunder and Strathmore University Blades .
