Victory in the final would see Okutoyi and McAdoo complete back-to-back title triumphs in Aschaffenburg
Kenyan tennis star Angella Okutoyi and her American partner Rasheeda McAdoo are a win away from successfully defending their ITF W100 Aschaffenburg doubles title after storming into the final in Germany.
The second-seeded pair displayed remarkable resilience on Friday, 10 July, fighting back from a set down to defeat German duo Eva Bennemann and Julia Stusek 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 in a thrilling semifinal encounter that lasted one hour and 40 minutes.

Okutoyi and McAdoo endured a difficult start as Bennemann and Stusek secured an early break before holding on to take the opening set 6-4 in 38 minutes.
The defending champions, however, refused to bow out.
They matched the German pair’s intensity in a tightly contested second set and claimed it by an identical 6-4 scoreline to force a decisive match tiebreak.
With a place in the final on the line, Okutoyi and McAdoo drew on their championship experience to take control of the high-pressure decider.
The Kenyan-American partnership dominated the crucial points before wrapping up the match tiebreak 10-6 in 17 minutes to seal their place in Saturday’s final.
The victory leaves the pair just one win away from completing a successful title defence at the tournament, having lifted the W100 Aschaffenburg doubles crown together last year.
Okutoyi had earlier suffered disappointment in the singles competition after exiting in the qualifying rounds, but her impressive doubles run has kept Kenya’s hopes of silverware alive on the German clay courts.
The doubles final is scheduled for Saturday, 11 July, with Okutoyi and McAdoo set to face the winners of the other semifinal.
Their opponents will come from the clash pitting Serbian-Slovenian pair Elena Milovanovic and Kristina Novak against Serbia’s Teodora Kostovic and Argentina’s Julia Riera.
Victory in the final would see Okutoyi and McAdoo complete back-to-back title triumphs in Aschaffenburg.
