The current NBA champion is up for sale, with an asking price of six billion dollars
NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, are up for sale, and one potential buyer could be Jeff Bezos.
According to American media, one of the wealthiest individuals on the planet is being mentioned in league circles as a serious candidate to purchase the Massachusetts-based franchise.
The asking price is reported to be around six billion dollars, which is approximately two billion more than what Mat Ishbia paid for the Phoenix Suns.
The current owner of the Celtics, Irving Grousbeck, purchased the franchise during the 2002/03 season for a then-record 360 million dollars.
Bezos is the founder and owner of Amazon, the world's largest retailer. His net worth is estimated to be around 195 billion dollars.
The multi-billionaire previously showed interest in purchasing the NFL team Washington Commanders. He was also mentioned as one of the potential buyers for the Seattle Seahawks after the franchise's owner, Paul Allen, passed away in 2018.

“In the last few days there’s been some I think legitimate buzz about Jeff Bezos buying the Celtics, and I think it’s real. I think he’s gonna be one of the suitors.”
