Record champions Blazers reclaimed the Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) Women’s Premier League title after thrashing Lakers 4-0 in the final day of the season at City Park.

Blazers needed the win on the final day of the campaign to lay hands on the gong they lost last season to Strathmore University Scorpions.

The outgoing champions finished fourth behind USIU-A Spartans, Lakers and newly-crowned champions, Blazers.

Rose Mbulo’s charges were in the mood and took the lead in the 20th minute through Beverlyn Akoth’s field goal with Audrey Omaido sounding the board seven minutes later.

Eleanor Chebet scored the third goal for the champions in the 32nd minute with Maureen Okumu icing the cake for Blazers in the 51st minute.

While the women’s competition ended as smoothly as anticipated it is still unclear who won the men’s title.

The Union had a brief presentation ceremony for Blazers but didn’t afford the same to Butali Warriors who surrendered their lead to play Western Jaguars to a 2-2 draw.

Had Butali won the duel, they would have automatically been declared champions but the draw complicated things as the match between Butali and KCA University in which Jaguars are an interested party in the case before the Sports Dispute Tribunal had not been resolved.

Butali broke the deadlock barely four minutes into the game through Festus Onyango who scored from a penalty corner.

Kennedy Munialo doubled the advantage for Butali in the 23rd minute dragging the ball into the back of the net from another short corner.

Jaguars reduced the deficit in the 35th minute through Sheldon Kimutai with Derrick Juma leveling matters in the 58th minute.

Okumu cliched the Golden Boot in the women's competition courtesy of the eleven goals scored in the term.

Kenyatta University’s Melody Nyagaka was named the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) with Alice Wanjiru of Blazers being named the best goalkeeper.

Farhan Khan of Daikyo Heroes was the best scorer in the men’s Super League with Charity Majimbo scooping the award in the ladies’ category.

Simon Adaka of Mombasa Sports Club and Mary Georgin were named the Super League’s MVPs.

Newton Mwangaza, finishing the season with 16 goals, secured the title of the Men's National League top scorer, while Frank Ogendi from Kisii Falcons was named the Men's National League MVP.

Meanwhile, in the Men's National League, Kitale Hockey Club emerged victorious by beating the University of Nairobi 2-1, securing their claim to the league title.
