GSU continue to feel the attacker's absence as they seek to defend their KVF title.
Former General Service Unit (GSU) attacker and Kenya Volleyball Federation's (KVF) 2018 and 2919 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Abiud Chirchir is on his way out to France where he will turn up for Grand Nancy Volley-ball (GNVB).
I want to play as a professional volleyball player in Europe with big teams, that is the core of my dream. I was amazed when I was named the MVP in my country, it was a career leap but again I will be happier if you said Abiud Chirchir have pen a deal with a top European team. pic.twitter.com/8hukthL9LR

The Malava Boys' alumnus has featured for Tunisia's Olympique de Kelibia for two seasons, having joined in January last year and was as recently as last month integral in the side's fourth-place finish in the African club championship played in Tunis.

Before his move to Kelibia, the 24-year-old Kenyan International had featured for Rwandese side University of Kibungo (UNIK) in 2017. The Kenyan alongside Spaniard Victor Rodriguez Perez are reported to be the last two recruits for the community club, which is still waiting to know its next coach.
“GNVB will entrust the tip of its attack to the Kenyan Chirchir, a total unknown on the European continent. Once again, with limited financial means, we were forced to make bets and he is one of them, like the passer Robert Viiber and the Spaniard Victor Rodriguez Perez. For this new championship, we want to build a sports project that will be based on a dynamic collective. We thus favour team spirit over individualities,” Michel Hentzen, the club’s sports manager told French media.

Chirchir’s parent club, GSU, continue to feel his absence as the paramilitary side found the going tough in the Africa Club championship, finishing in seventh place behind Kenya’s other representatives Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) who managed a fifth-place finish. Chirchir’s place as an opposite has been taken up by youngster Kevin Omuse previously with Equity Bank.
Under coach Gideon Tarus, GSU are looking to defend the local title but are currently facing stiff competition from among other KPA and Kenya Prisons.
