The two will face off with Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes of Canada on Monday for their second match starting at 4:30 PM

Kenya's beach volleyball pair of Brackcides Agala and Gaudencia Makokha lost their opening match at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham by straight sets to New Zealand's Alice Zeimann and Shaunna Polley on Saturday night.

The Kenyans were whitewashed in the first set, losing 21-10 but they went down fighting in the second set as they staged a more improved showing but still lost 21-19.

With the result from the first day, Kenyan is third on the standing ahead of their Monday clash with defending champions Canada who top the group ahead of New Zealand following their drubbing over Ghana.

The Olympians were picked for the "Club" Games ahead Naomi Too and Phoscah Kasisi despite sitting out of the African Commonwealth Games beach volleyball qualifiers in Accra, Ghana in March where Too partnered with Veronicah Adhiambo as Agala and Makokha watched.

Kenya is drawn in a tricky Pool 'A' alongside defending champions Canada, New Zealand and Ghana.

The top two teams in each pool will earn automatic tickets to the quarter-final with the best loser of each group joining them.
