Dockers on revenge mission as KBF final is confirmed

The final is scheduled to throws off on 2 and 3 April in Mombasa for Game One and Two.

This is a familiar match-up and the outcome could go any way. However, as Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) take on Ulinzi Warriors in the KBF final, the dockers look to dethrone the soldiers.

The trip to the men's Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) final has not been devoid of its fair share of drama for both teams have had to fight on and off the court to be in for this fight.

Warriors overcame allegations of fielding an ineligible player in the playoffs as the dockers had to appeal a decision to have their Game Five of the semis against Equity Dumas to be replayed. The verdict, in the end, went in favour of the Mombasa-based side.

KPA's skipper Martin Kitong'o has exuded confidence in his side getting their revenge on the military side who subjected the dockers to their two losses in the regular league season.

"We have been in training, in residential camp, for the last week preparing for whatever outcome the disciplinary committee would come up with.

We expected to be in action this weekend but now that the final begins next month, we get one more week to get ready for our two matches in Mombasa," said Kitong'o.

Previous meetings between the two sides have been explosive and expectedly so. This final is no different as Warriors look to defend their title while the Sammy Kiki charges are out to reclaim the title they last won in 2018.

Enroute to their 2019 title, Warriors beat KPA in the semis to meet Nairobi City Thunder in the final. The dockers, however, had denied Warriors the trophy in 2018.

"We lost our two matches to Warriors in the regular season so we know the final will be no walk in the park. We want to take full advantage of home advantage and win the first two matches in Mombasa so that we can have an easier job away in Nairobi," Kitong'o further offered
