The battle for final slots is set for Sunday from noon

The last day of the Super Cup men's preliminary matches was filled with drama as four teams, Ulinzi, Black Mamba, General Service Unit (GSU) and Kenyatta University (K.U) battled to make it to the Cup's top four.

In the end the disciplined forces had their day, Ulinzi proceeding to the last four on goal difference after a 28 all draw with. The military side had lost by fewer goals to National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) who topped A.

In pool B, GSU had to sweat for their 33-32 victory against a resilient and highly motivated K.U side to go through tobthe semis as the second best team in the pool after Strathmore who qualified last weekend.

"All we needed was a win and the margin did not matter in this instance. However, it was not a matter of getting lucky, we trained for every moment on that court and we are happy for the win.

Focus now shifts to the semi final on Sunday where we face NCPB. Alot is at stake in this match. For a start, NCPB are out to revenge their loss to us in the regular league, the only loss they suffered. We are out to fight for a final place and will give it our all," offered GSU skipper Raphael Chege

The other semi final will have Ulinzi taking on Strathmore University. The soldiers, under the tutelage of former player Nixon Oyaro have finished the group stage matches without a win after losing ti NCPB and drawing against Mamba and have a herculean task against the varsity side.

On paper, Strathmore are the better side, having finished the regular league in second place while Ulinzi were fifth. However, the soldiers defeated the Peter Mwathi-led side in the regular league matches.
