The side plays Daystar Falcons next in a match the military side are clear favourites
Ulinzi Sharks have come close to winning the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women's league title on several occasions since making a return five years ago.
However, the dominant Nairobi Water Queens have proven a hard nut to crack for the Emmanuel Kieti-led military side, something the tactician is keen to change when the league concludes this season.
Sharks, who have lost one match against holders Nairobi Water in the first leg, have what is possibly the clearest path to lifting the title, but it is not all roses as they have to win all their remaining matches to lift the title.
“We want to win this. We have what it takes to achieve that as we have a full squad. The target is to win all matches and lift the title, none is more important than the other,” Kieti told Mozzart Sport. “It would be a great achievement as none of the current players has achieved that feat.”
Nairobi Water’s loss to Rangers has given the military side a relatively ‘easier’ path to the title. Having lost to Water in the opening leg, Kieti insists they will get the better of their nemesis in the second leg and lift the title.
“Their loss is an added advantage but we are not banking on that but on our abilities to win,” Kieti added further revealing that his side is not only looking at the wins but also the goal difference.
The Ulinzi handball family is on a mission for a double with the men’s team, under coach Nixon Oyaro is also faced with a similar predicament of needing maximum points in all remaining matches to dethrone National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
“We take it one match at a time, without any complacency. Yes, there are some key teams we are yet to face but we will handle them when it is their turn. We haven’t lost a match and we want to keep it that way,” Oyaro, whose men’s side has dropped points once in a draw against Strathmore University said.
