The event is set to attract around 40 teams from various regions of Kenya, alongside international teams from Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi

In a significant boost for swimming in Kenya, Kenya Aquatics has secured a Ksh. 300,000 sponsorship from ORS, a leading brand under A&Z Nutraceuticals Ltd.

This vital sponsorship will support the organization of the National Age Group Swimming Championship, slated for 22-23 June, 2024, at the Kasarani Aquatic Arena.

The championship is expected to attract around 40 teams from various regions of Kenya, alongside international teams from Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.

This event will also serve as a trial to select swimmers for the forthcoming international championships, including the 9th Africa Aquatics Zone 3 Swimming Championship, scheduled to take place in Burundi this November.

Dr. Maureen Owiti, President of Kenya Aquatics, expressed her appreciation for the sponsorship, emphasizing its impact on the development of swimming in Kenya.

"We are immensely grateful for ORS's support. This sponsorship will enhance the quality and organization of the National Age Group Swimming Championship, providing our young athletes with the motivation and resources they need to excel,” she said. “ORS juice, known for its excellent hydration and recovery properties, is a perfect fit for our swimmers, aiding them in maintaining peak performance."

Enid Kanyiri, Managing Director of A&Z Nutraceuticals Ltd, reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting swimming.

"We are delighted to partner with Kenya Aquatics and contribute to the advancement of this sport and are committed to promoting sports and healthy living through such partnerships," he said.

The sponsorship was officially received by Dr. Owiti, Liz Matimu, Treasurer of Kenya Aquatics, and Hon. George Munene, Liaison Officer of Kenya Aquatics.

This is not the first instance of ORS supporting swimming in Kenya; the brand also sponsored the inaugural Kenya Aquatics National Master Swimming Championship held at Sabis International School in March this year.

With this partnership, the National Age Group Swimming Championship is set to be a highly successful and well-organized event, inspiring young swimmers and contributing to the growth of swimming in Kenya.
