Adil is a Mauritian born, Kenyan built athlete who erased chronic asthma through dedication to fitness and nutrition, which in turn saw him become a health coach with the main aim of strengthening people’s minds.

Extreme fitness athlete Mohammad Adil Abdool etched his name in the history books as he officially broke the Guinness World Record for the Most Burpees under 12 hours (male) on Saturday 31 July 2021 with an astonishing 7,415 burpees.

Initially, American software engineer Michael Aliotti had held the record for the most burpees within 12 hours after he managed 7,295 but in the event held over the weekend at Nairobi Street Kitchen in Westlands, Nairobi, Mohammad managed to surpass that previous record by doing 120 extra burpees.

After successfully conquering the gruesome coquest, Mohammad, a champion for the human mental strength, expressed his delight at achieving the outstanding feat and noted that that record breaking attempt was only the start of what the human mind can do.

“Never doubt Mr. Shredded! My mission has just begun. I have been able to display the strength of the human body and mind. When I woke up that morning, I decided pain would be my norm today. As the day went by, I had to dig deep and begin to enjoy that pain. My mind went into a trance with one voice guiding me, the one of Amit Soni. Over the next few years, I intend to push the limits of the human body and mind. In the process, I hope to inspire change in how we view mental and physical health,” he said.

The official attempt will be verified by the Guinness World Records team as per their guidelines if a representative is not available and he will receive his award within 10 days of submission.

Should the record be ratified, the Mauritian-born Adil will have the opportunity to join 18 other Kenyans, mostly top athletes, who are currently listed on the Guinness World Records Book.

Adil will not stop at the burpees record. The adrenaline junkie plans to pull a 4x4 car from one end of Mauritius Island to the other, and also swim from one channel to another.

From the proceeds of the event, Mahammad aims at raising cancer awareness, something that his mother went through, and wants to help Faraja Cancer Centre for the support they give cancer patients.
