Sarah Achieng's record stands at 15 wins and 2 losses
Five days after the World Boxing Federation confirmed that Kenya’s Sarah Achieng will be taking on Miranda Reyes in the vacant WBF Original World Super Lightweight title on May 5, coach Alfred ‘Priest’ Analo is confident that his boxer – ‘Angel of War’ Achieng – is ready for her next big step in boxing.
Achieng missed an opportunity to fight for the International Boxing Federation Super lightweight title against Oshin Derieuw early this month when she couldn’t secure a visa to Belgium.
After consultations and fight arrangements in the previous weeks between both parties- Achieng and Reyes’ camps – WBF Africa coordinator George Adipo confirmed that the fight night will have six undercard fights that are yet to be confirmed.
“First of all, I am delighted for us to secure this fight,” Analo told Mozzart Sport when asked about the feeling of getting another Intercontinental title shot. “Our hope and expectation is that this fight will go on without any issues. We have all paid up and settled on KICC as the venue for the fight.”
With up to three fights in the past having to be canceled, Analo said that his camp – Boxgals Promotions- “has strategized better to make sure it happens and that fans get a special experience.”
Achieng’s record stands at 15 wins and 2 losses and will be taking on the 21 year old Miranda Reyes Sanchez who holds a boxing record of 6 wins, 1 draw and a loss.

“We haven't stopped training since last year,” Analo said of Achieng’s preparedness. “Achieng is meant for the gym and that’s where she loves it most. I can tell that she is ready to go.”
Also as part of the preparation, Analo said that he is looking to improve every aspect of her boxing tact, just to cover every trap that Reyes might set in the fight.
The reigning Commonwealth super lightweight title champion has an opportunity to win her fifth belt, something Analo is proud of having been in Achieng’s camp at the professional level.
Achieng won the East and Central Africa featherweight championships early on into her career and defended it three times before moving to the lightweight category.
The Kenya Sports Personality of the month (December) went on to win the national lightweight championship before claiming the Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) championship in Russia against Marina Popova.
Achieng’s latest bout came late last year when she beat Zimbabwean opponent Chiedza ‘Queen Tiger’ Homakoma in a 10-round fight at Charter Hall, Nairobi.
More details in regards to undercards and ticketing will be communicated in the coming weeks.
