This clinic not only served as a platform for learning and development, but also underscored the unified efforts towards elevating the standards of aquatic sports in Kenya
A group of over a hundred swimming coaches this weekend converged for the Kiambu Aquatics Meet and Team Manager Swimming Clinic staged at Zetech University.
The event, led by Kenya Aquatics Secretary General Collins Marigiri, was set up with the aim of navigating Kenyan coaches through comprehensive training on the orchestration of swimming meets, while leveraging on the advent of advanced meet swimming software.
Furthermore, the clinic offered an in-depth exploration of athlete database management via team manager software, streamlining the process with the innovative use of zip files for entries submission.
“This technology, pivotal in the management of both national and international aquatic competitions, marks a significant leap in sports administration,” Marigiri said at the event that drew a diverse group of coaches from Kiambu, Nairobi, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Machakos, Nyeri and Kisumu.
“This is the perfect opportunity for all coaches to seize the moment towards continual learning and vigilance especially in lifeguarding,” Douglas Okatso, Director of Swim Safe Kenya and Secretary of Kiambu Aquatics said.
His call was in response to the concerning rise in drowning incidents, highlighting Swim Safe Kenya's commitment to combat them through comprehensive training programs.
Also in attendance was Nyandarua Aquatics Governor Hosea Mathu, who lauded the facilitators for their instrumental role in propelling swimming's development within Kenya.
He also took the chance to announce his team's readiness to implement the strategies learned, beginning with the much anticipated Mt. Kenya Aquatics Invitational Swimming Championship scheduled for Saturday 9 March at Nyahururu Elite School.
