Wins in the singles matches saw the doubles tie skipped
Kenya is through to the Davis Cup Africa Group 3 tournament semifinal, unbeaten, after picking a 3-0 victory over their last group stage opponent Ghana in straight sets both in the singles and doubles matches.
Kenya’s top-seed Ismael Changawa was first on the rubber against Samuel Agbesi at the Smash Sporting Club in Cairo, Egypt and he got Kenya’s campaign off to a flying start as he smashed the West African in straight sets of 6-2, 6-0.
Ibrahim Kibet was up next against Benjamin Palm and needed only one set to banish the 20-year old 6-3 forcing him to retire.
Albert Njogu was set to pair with Kibet for the doubles against Agbesi and Palm but with the match dead rubber it was not played.
Kenya now heads to the semifinal where they meet either Egypt or Algeria.
