
Kenyan International Wacu lifts Seychelles volleyball title

Jane Wacu, a former Malkia Strikers’ star setter, has won the Seychelles Volleyball Federation league title with City Ladies.

Despite succumbing to her former side, Anse Royale (ARSU) Ladies, in their final match over the weekend in a 3-2 (22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 14-25, 23-21) outcome, City Ladies still retained the league title.
Wacu’s side finishes the season with 21 points from eight matches, two points ahead of ARSU, who finished second with 19 points, while Cascade came a distant third with 11 points from the same number of matches.
With the victory, City booked a slot in the forthcoming African Clubs Championships.
The veteran setter, whose career began in 2005 with league champions Kenya Pipeline before moving to Prisons Kenya between 2007-2013, has had an illustrious career that includes participation at the Tokyo Olympics before calling time with the national team.
Before her move to Seychelles, Wacu played in France for VBC Chamalieres for one year.

After a three-year Covid-19 occasioned break, she joined Cascade Club from ARSU on a one-year renewable contract, citing the need for a new challenge and a chase for individual medals.
