
Kenyan teams qualify for ITF/CAT Eastern Africa Junior finals

Kenyan teams have qualified for the finals of the ITF/CAT Eastern African Junior Team Championships 2025 in the under-14 and under-16 categories.
The finals will be played on Thursday at Nairobi club bringing to an end a successful tournament that has been going on all week long.
Kenya under-16 girls team composed of Ishaara Deschilder and Nancy Kawira beat Tanzania’s Faith Njamakuya and Alesi Kazoba 6-3,6-2 in a match played on court one.
Also on the same court, the Kenya under-16 boys thrashed their Uganda counterparts 3-0. The Kenyan team was made up of Jeff Hesbon Okuku and Ayush Bhandari who edged out Abdul Latif and Tony Blair 6-2,6-3,6-4.
The Kenya under-14 girls also won their semi-final match against Ugandan opposition after Basthseba Ogamba and Felicia Ouko beat Mary Tendo and Lilian Ayee 6-3,6-3.
Ayaan Quadros and Bulsara Vihaan featuring for the Kenyan under-14 team beat Abdoul Jabar and Dan Muteramphuwe from Burundi 6-0, 6-3.
The Kenyan under-16 girls also beat their Ugandan counterparts after Yusra Irakoze and Bebita Ishimwe were too good for Hilder Afoyorwoth and Latifah Kampi 6-3,7-5.
“As coaches we are incredibly proud of these players for their work ethics and effort throughout the preparations for this event, we hope that they keep this momentum up,” said Kenyan coach Rosemary Owino.
She said the team will now focus on concurring the African Junior Championships to be held next month.
