Mt. Kenya Region make significant steps in aquatics development

Significant development was witnessed in the nation’s aquatic scene as key players in Murang’a County gathered over the weekend to discuss the establishment of the Murang’a County Aquatics Association.
In the decisive meeting, former military personnel Joseph Ndung’u was elected as Interim Governor.
The assembly also resolved to host a significant gala in the coming term, with it a chance to compete against invitational sides from neighboring counties.
Further, a commitment to collaborate with Kiharu Member of National Assembly Hon. Ndindi Nyoro was made, all in a united effort to develop robust infrastructure to nurture swimming talent in the region.
Among the notable swimming teams in the county include: ACK Thika Memorial Church, Gatanga Girls, Murang’a Seals, Murang’a High School, Vidhu Ramji, Edinburg, Pioneer School, Murang’a Elite and St. Paul Thomas.
At the same time, Nyandarua County Aquatics Association is nearing official recognition by the sports registrar, having satisfied all prerequisites.
The association had engaged the services of Glory Kigumo, a prominent sports lawyer, who facilitated acquiring relevant documents guided on constitution and strategic plan formation.
The county in high altitude recently partnered with Mt. Kenya Aquatics and organized a gala at Nyahururu Elite.
Moreover, Nyeri Seals swimming club, managed by Tony Muthee, is set for its official launch in July this year.
The launch, set to be officiated by PS Alex Wachira, is focused on recruiting a mix of seasoned and novice swimmers to elevate the swimming standards in Nyeri.
It is also aimed at matching the prowess of other leading swimming counties.
Other counties in Mt. Kenya looking forward to registration include; Embu, Meru and Kirinyaga.
