Memphis devastated by sudden loss of beloved teammate remembered for his energy, humility and passion for the game
Brandon Clarke has died at the age of 29, his team Memphis Grizzlies confirmed on Monday.
The Grizzlies said the organisation was "heartbroken" by the loss of one of the franchise's longest-serving players, while tributes quickly poured in from across the basketball world. No cause of death has yet been announced.
"Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organisation and the Memphis community will never be forgotten," the franchise said in an official statement.

Born in Vancouver before moving to Phoenix as a child, Clarke rose to prominence during his college career at Gonzaga University after previously playing for San Jose State University.
He was selected in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder before being traded almost immediately to Memphis, where he became a fan favourite thanks to his energy, athleticism and relentless style of play.
Across 309 NBA appearances, including 50 starts, Clarke averaged 10.2 points per game and established himself as an important figure within the Grizzlies' core.

Injuries had heavily limited him this season, with the forward making only two appearances in December, although he remained around the team and travelled with the squad to London earlier this year for the NBA's international showcase against the Orlando Magic.
His agency, Priority Sports, described Clarke as "the gentlest soul," adding that he was someone who was "always there for friends and family."
NBA commissioner Adam Silver also paid tribute, calling Clarke "a beloved teammate and leader who played with enormous passion and grit."
Clarke's death comes just weeks after reports emerged that he had been arrested in Arkansas on charges including speeding and possession of a controlled substance.
The basketball world is now mourning a player widely respected not only for his talent on the court, but also for his character away from it.
